A great solution for Satellite Radio listening, December 14, 2008

The ST4-TK1 is great for a mid priced satellite radio solution. It has a small memory capable of holding 60 minutes of audio. I use this most when I stop at a store or go to the post office, and don't want to miss a minute of Howard while i'm inside. This portable solution can be removed from your car and placed in the Sirius boombox for a solution you can take to the park or on a picnic.
With over 100 stations featuring all different variations of music, sports, talk, ect....once you go satellite radio, there's no going back.
With the recent merge of XM and Sirius, you can get a package on each service with the highlights of the others (ie. Howard on XM) by paying a slightly more expensive plan.
A lifetime plan at $500 may seem steep, but figuring out that it pays for itself in 3 years makes it seem much more economical. There is also a monthly, quarterly, annual, and other plans. You save more with the more you purchase upfront.
Overall, once you go Sirius, there's no going back. Especially in CA where there are not too many good stations and they all play commercials non stop, if you have to do without it, you WILL go through withdrawls.
Also, to Amazon's benefit, the first radio I received here was defective (buttons not working), but the return process was awesome. I didn't have to talk to anyone, all shipping was prepaid, and they exchanged my radio for one that has been working great for a month now with little or no stress. Props to you Amazon.

Shoddy Product, December 4, 2008

I really enjoy satellite radio and the Starmate worked fairly reliably for the first year. It would occasionally lose its connection with the satellite antenna and display the "not connected" alert. Over time, the connection became more and more intermittent to the point of being unusable. For $100, I guess I didn't expect it to wear out so fast.
