Inspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung?s unique unique Transparent and Opaque Color molding process creates a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color during the manufacturing process for an ultra-sleek appearance. |

Instead, the TV intelligently calculates the ?middle? image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between (Auto Motion Plus 120Hz processor), making a fluid transition from one frame to the next. | ![]() |
![]() ![]() | Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes. The latest version of Samsung?s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing. |

As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung?s new LCD TV?s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever. |

| The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung?s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors ? the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky. | |||

![]() ![]() | You already know something about digital living. There?s the TV and digital video recorder in your family room. (And another set in your bedroom.) You have a PC and digital printer in your office, along with a network attached storage device. And you?ve copied all your music onto your portable music player and haven?t had to open a CD case for years. But getting them to talk to each other can be pretty tough. Why is it still so difficult to send digital content from one device to another? Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a collaboration of the world?s leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile companies that has created design guidelines for a new generation of products that can work together ? no matter the brand. Think for a moment about all of the photos "locked away" on your home PC that you wish you could access while entertaining your friends and family. Now, thanks to DLNA enabled devices, a DLNA-enabled PC can be accessed from the comfort of your living room or family room via a DLNA-enabled HDTV, where you can enjoy your memories with friends and family, without having to deal with the hassle and non-intuitive "PCexperience". Or, say you recently downloaded your daughter?s birthday party video from your digital camcorder to your PC. Now you want to share it with your parents who are visiting. Without DLNA, you probably have to burn a DVD of the video or hook up the camcorder to the TV. With DLNA, you can just use your TV?s remote to call up the video on your TV. That?s it. |

![]() | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

The Best Value in LCD TVs - |
Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review |
|
After shopping around for televisions for over half a year, purchasing some, and even returning some, I have become quite satisfied with this TV. Even among Samsung TVs alone, there are quite a few models to choose from, and I was sorely tempted to purchase the 52" 8 series model, for a pretty good price. Nevertheless, I feel this TV set is something of a classic amongst LCD TV sets, as the combination of style, picture quality, and price make this an excellent choice for any buyer.
For those who may not have as discerning an eye as others, you may not see the difference between this set, and say, a Phillips. But those who have picky eyes will see that the difference is in the details. While many TVs from other manufacturers may boast the same features and technologies as this TV (120 Hz, Contrast enhancement, edge enhancement, etc.), upon inspection you will find that not all technologies are created equal. The greatest part is, that this TV set produces an excellent picture already, WITHOUT these features, whereas other sets use those same features as gimmicks to make a below average picture look mildly acceptable. And while the menu functions are a tiny bit awkward for the advanced user and avid TV tweaker, you can be satisfied that should you prefer a more accurate, natural picture, or a picture with more "wow", this TV can support excellence in both arenas. It's not the perfect set, but definitely the best value. There are little things that could be improved on, but don't really hurt the score. Much has been said about the glossy screen. I have this set in the living room, next to large windows, and the "reflection/glare issue" does not create any problems for me. One of the best touches is the Channel List feature for the TV tuner, which makes browsing through digital channels much, much easier. I only wish the TV supported naming functions for the channels, so that I can name My biggest gripe with this TV is that the HDCP link for HDMI connections takes longer than usual to be established, but it's a minor thing. |

not the cheapest TV, but still a great value for top quality - |
Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review |
|
Like most others, I love this TV - picture is the best I've seen on any TV, and I did a lot of comparison shopping before deciding to order this one from Amazon. Like a few others here, I read the reviews from Consumer Reports and CNET.com and others, all of which gave this TV a top rating.
I can't comment on the built-in speakers, since I run the sound through a home theater system. Regarding the glare issue: I've noticed a bit of glare, only when there's a light source immediately behind me (so that the face of the TV acts as sort of a mirror) and only when the video being displayed is dark. People have different tolerance levels for this type of thing, but I really don't think it's a big deal - it's no worse than any other TV I've owned or seen in a retail store. The TV is on a swivel stand. When this happens, I swivel the TV an inch or two to the right or left, which solves the problem. By the way, the viewing angle of this LCD TV is great - much wider than most other LCD TVs I've seen. The "touch of red" is subtle. Personally, I like it a lot - it's enough to give the TV a bit of a unique look, which I really appreciate because so many flat-screen TVs have the same bland styling. Yet, it is very subtle and can blend in with any decor, regardless of the color of your walls, furniture, etc. I don't think any but the very pickiest of people would feel the appearance of the TV clashes with their decor. If you purchase this set, I recommend buying from Amazon. First, their price is lower than almost any other retailer. (And, as another reviewer said, every couple days they raise or lower the price - it seems to fluctuate between $2060 and $1930 or thereabouts - so wait for it to go to the lower level and then order.) Second, Amazon pays for delivery and doesn't charge sales tax. Delivery would otherwise be $60 or more, and tax on a $2000 TV would be $100 or more in most states. The quality of the delivery service should factor into your decision. Different reviewers here have had different experiences, some great, others not so great. For what it's worth, here's mine: Amazon used the freight company "Pilot" to deliver my TV. The local Pilot depot (about 40 miles from here) received the TV just 5 days after I ordered it, but they only make deliveries to my town on certain days of the week, and only between 10am and 2pm. So, it took another week before I was able to coordinate with them for delivery to my house. They told me that 2 men would deliver the TV, but only one showed up at my house. So I was the second man. I didn't mind this - I'm in okay shape and happy for the exercise - but some folks might not be willing or able to help carry in their bigscreen TV from the truck. Also, the truck showed up when they said it would - which I really appreciated - so I didn't have to wait around all day for the delivery. The box the TV was packed in had some dirt on it (this is very typical, even with UPS and FedEx, I don't know how the insides of these delivery trucks get so dirty, do they also ship shrubs and small trees?) When the box was set down on the carpet in several different places, it left dirt that was very hard to get out. Frustrating. The box was undamaged, and the TV was very carefully packed inside it and had absolutely no damage. The guy took it out of the box, inspected the TV, and I helped him put it on the stand. He put the batteries in the remote and plugged it in. He offered to take away the box and packing materials, but I opted to hang on to them. Except for the dirt on my carpet, I considered this to be excellent service. Before putting the new TV on my stand, I had to move my old TV off the stand and out of the way. I couldn't do this by myself - it's a 34" widescreen tube TV and weighs nearly 200 pounds. I asked the guy if he could help me move it, and he didn't hesitate to help. I gave him a generous gratuity afterward. A few people here have reported problems or defects with the TV. While every instance of this is regrettable, I would not let this deter you from ordering this TV. Samsung sells a huge number of TVs, yet has a very high reliability rating from Consumer Reports. So, while it's possible the one you get will need some type of warranty repair, it's not very likely. There's always this risk when you purchase any flat-screen TV from any manufacturer (just like one out of every 10,000 new ipods people buy is defective). Amazon has a generous return policy, and Samsung has a good warranty (though as a few people have said here, in some cases it's been hard to get warranty service in a timely fashion). So I think it's a risk worth taking. In sum, this is an absolutely great TV - great picture, tons of connectivity options, great features, and, while not the cheapest 52" TV, definitely the best one and a great value for this quality. If 52" is too big for your living room, Samsung makes a 46" version of this same TV for about $450 less - a great price compared with other retailers - and offers the same FREE "white glove" shipping and delivery service you'd get with this TV. I'm very happy with the TV and with the terms of my purchase from Amazon. (And I SWEAR I am not an Amazon employee!! Really!!!) |

I had this TV for 3 weeks now. Delivery was fast, on time and no damages. I bought this TV from Amazon. TV looks very good. The picture quality is amazing. Sometimes some shows look like real picture. Did not have any issues yet. Had to read manual in order to find the touch panel. Has enough HDMI inputs. |

Great TV impressed with Amazon, good delivery by Pilot - |
Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review |
|
AFter much thought and wringing of hands, the 650 turned out to be just right. Glare is not a problem for us, fine we may have to turn off a light or close a blind. So the 630 in my opinion would not have been necessary with the flat screen.
Delivery by Pilot was much better than expected, they had called me to make a delivery appointment, the dispatcher who was in Hayward, was on top of the delivery and she kept her word. Two guys showed up in the deliver truck, I asked if they could removed my old 46 inch very heavy TV off the stand. They said they would, I was worried because it is so heavy I do on know if I can lift it. They unplugged and disconnected the cables and moved it across the room for me. Then they Removed my new 650 from the box and placed it on the stand, could see no damage to the box or the TV, they plugged in the TV, placed batteries in the remote and showed me it was working. I signed the papers and they left. Not many stores would have come out to my place and done the extras. Since I live 16 miles from the closest town, I had figured on a Freight Truck delivery and they would not do more than kick the box out of the truck, but Pilot came in a van and made it a pleasant experience, they made sure the TV was not damaged. I hooked up everything else myself and it works great. What great pictures we get with Dish HD programs and my 1080I DVD player, not sure if I will feel a desire for a Blue Ray player? Originally I was going for a Plasma TV, but after researching, the lower energy use of the LCD Samsung, plus it seems LCD's have less problems than Plasma. Watch the prices on Amazon they move up and down, I was lucky we purchased on a low price day. Great deal with Amazon and free delivery, you cannot compare it. . |
