I recently purchased a samsung three year extended service plan for lcd tv. Only to find out it begins date of purchase. You get one year from manufacturer, which covers first year, leaving you only two years on your three year warranty. How's that for a surpise? Pay for three get two.

Unnecessary if you purchase HDTV with a credit card, November 28, 2008

Check with your credit card company. They typically double the original manufacturer warranty up to one year, meaning that if you bought a Samsung HDTV with a credit card, you will receive an additional year of coverage.
In other words, you'd be paying $200+ for just one more year. Bad deal.
