This is a FANTASTIC sock book :) I am a new sock knitter, but once I get a few more pairs of basic socks under my belt, I want to knit every pattern in this book. Her directions are concise and I love the charts. I love her socks because they have style. Can't wait for her next book! |

The knitting world is full of stars: designers, spinners, dyers, knitters. Cookie A. is loved far and wide for her cool socks, many of which are often offered at no charge.
I've knit several Cookie socks, I plan to knit more but I don't always love her socks. What I *do* love in this book is that there is a heaping helping of patterns to get busy with but most importantly, lots of discussion on design elements and pointers for would-be designers: how much stretch will a very lacy pattern have compared to a cabled pattern? Will that pattern that works out perfectly in your gauge swatch have enough give to slip over your instep/ankle? She carefully details all of the concerns a designer *should* keep in mind without getting too academic. Great photos, easy to read and make sense of...I think between this book and Cat Boordhi's recent Pathways books the sock world is about to find a new wave of designer stars...thanks, Cookie for sharing lots of great information! |

I thoroughly enjoyed flipping through this book. The patterns were exquisite and the information seemed to be extensive. My problem, while I've been a knitter for years and years...it was knitting the old usual way. This book brings you into something really new! I was looking for projects that I could knit while watching TV. This book is for studying, and the patterns require paying attention to what you are doing (means reading each line before applying it to the needles, I fear). I should pass it on to someone else, but it's still a fascinating book I will bring out to leaf through again and again (and wish?). Almost a coffee-table book! |

I love this book by Cookie A. She is extremely creative, and all of the patterns are easy to follow...once I accomplished reading charts. All of the socks are unique and a joy to give, or better yet, keep for yourself. Enjoy! |
