    A Clockwork Orange DVDdescription

    Description
    Product Description:
A jolting tale of crime and punishment stars Malcolm McDowell as a young neo-punk who becomes the guinea pig for a state-sanctioned cure of his tendency toward ?the old ultraviolence.

    From Amazon.com essential video:
Stanley Kubrick's striking visual interpretation of Anthony Burgess's famous novel is a masterpiece. Malcolm McDowell delivers a clever, tongue-in-cheek performance as Alex, the leader of a quartet of droogs, a vicious group of young hoodlums who spend their nights stealing cars, fighting rival gangs, breaking into people's homes, and raping women. While other directors would simply exploit the violent elements of such a film without subtext, Kubrick maintains Burgess's dark, satirical social commentary. We watch Alex transform from a free-roaming miscreant into a convict used in a government experiment that attempts to reform criminals through an unorthodox new medical treatment. The catch, of course, is that this therapy may be nothing better than a quick cure-all for a society plagued by rampant crime. A Clockwork Orange works on many levels--visual, social, political, and sexual--and is one of the few films that hold up under repeated viewings. Kubrick not only presents colorfully arresting images, he also stylizes the film by utilizing classical music (and Wendy Carlos's electronic classical work) to underscore the violent scenes, which even today are disturbing in their display of sheer nihilism. Ironically, many fans of the film have missed that point, sadly being entertained by its brutality rather than being repulsed by it. --Bryan Reesman

I purchased this item new. I got it for a very good price and it came new as expected. If you have not seen the movie, I would suggest it. Although a very great movie, it is not for people with a weak stomach. I am very satisfied with my purchase using amazon.com and plan on doing it again in the future.
    Thought-provoking - 4 stars
    A Clockwork Orange DVD Review
Rather a strange movie, leaves a bit to the imagination as far as the background plot goes, but then again there was no need to know more. The moral of the story was that we cannot change our basic nature; once we try to be someone or something else, we die inside. I'd love to see this movie again.
This movie is not for everybody, but that's kinda the point - 5 stars
    A Clockwork Orange DVD Review
"A Clockwork Orange" is kind of like a Rorschach test, everyone seems to see it differently, some people love it, others hate it, and even the one's who love it find it incredibly disturbing, but the best way I can think to describe it it this...

There's a scene in the film where Malcolm McDowell's character volunteers to be subjected to a series of mind altering images displayed on a movie screen, and if "you" choose to watch Clockwork Orange? You're basically volunteering to be subjected to a series of mind altering images, not everyone enjoys the experience, but no one ever forgets the images

I've seen it a few times, and i always have to laugh at parts of it, not always because it's funny, but more like a kind of defense mechanism, a sort of nervous laughter, like "oh my god I can't believe what I'm seeing". And this movie has the most twisted "happy?" ending very put on film-- so if you've never seen it, consider yourself warned.

Aside form the movie the the extras are great, and Malcolm McDowell's commentary track is the best insight into Kubrick creative process I've ever heard anywhere.

    Clockwork Orange Blu-ray - 5 stars

Great product everything we expected it would be. Would recommend it to all old movie buffs.
    Good series - 4 stars
    A Clockwork Orange DVD Review
This formulation of DVD looks to be a series about films made by Stanley Kubrik, as coincidentally I also got the bluray version of 2001 a space oddessy and the Shining. The extras are nice even tho the layout of the main menu leaves something to be desired. All in all a very good purchase
