    From Amazon.com:
Plenty of new television series need a season or two to sort themselves out, and as this three-disc, 13-episode (plus bonus features) box set from the second season (2007) reveals, the Sci-Fi Channel?s Eureka is still a work in progress--which is not a bad thing, considering that it?s one of the more provocative and ambitious shows out there. For the uninitiated, here?s the basic premise: Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson), accompanied by his teenage daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson), is stationed in Eureka, a picturesque little burg somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Eureka is hardly Anytown, USA; indeed, this is the place where "the world?s greatest thinkers" live and work, most of them at Global Dynamics, "the most advanced scientific facility in the world." It?s also a place where exceedingly strange things happen on a regular basis. In Season Two, those happenings include people spontaneously combusting, becoming invisible, turning into gold, or simply disappearing (and leaving nothing behind--not even a memory that they ever existed); a "personal force field" that?s growing so large and so fast that it will soon engulf the whole town, and maybe even the whole world; freaky weather that changes by the moment; and even an experiment to re-create the Big Bang inside a Global Dynamics lab, leading to some unexpected side effects.

These developments are all presented with enough cool special effects and scientific techno-babble to make Eureka a perfectly viable and sometimes quite dramatic science fiction diversion. But there?s more--much more. Sometimes this is a show about relationships: Jack and Zoe (custody becomes an issue when Jack?s ex, played by Olivia D?Abo, shows up in the early episodes); Jack and Allison Blake (Salli Richardson), Global Dynamics? new boss (their growing attraction is complicated by the continued presence of her ex, a genius scientist type); Jack and his pal Henry (Joe Morton), who blames Jack for his girlfriend?s death but gradually learns there?s more to it than that. Much of the time it?s a comedy, heavy on the quirks; and, in a change from the first year, it?s also a serial, with several story arcs continuing over the course of the season. All of that can make Eureka a but convoluted and hard to get a handle on, but this show is a keeper. Extensive bonus features include deleted scenes, gag reels, podcast commentaries, and a good deal more. --Sam Graham

Eureka Season Two - 4 stars
    Eureka DVD Review
Unfortunately, the second DVD in this package was defective and would not play. The other two DVDs worked and they were terrific. The characters in Eureka are really developing into people we like and want to know more about.
Awesome inventive show - 5 stars

This show is the most inventive show I have ever seen. Very funny and clever. Always something new to look foward to.
    Awesome show - 5 stars
    Eureka DVD Review
I love this show. It's funny, quirky, and intelligent. It doesn't insult your intelligence, but also doesn't depend on technobabble to solve the problems.
    A Must Have - 5 stars
    Eureka DVD Review
Eureka is one of the most intelligent and entertaining T.V. series of all time. Thankfully, it's on the SciFi channel and not a network channel where intelligence and creativity is undermined by too many "reality shows". This is a series I will continue to collect. Set in a town you will wish you could find, the characters are witty, smart, and loveable. There is so much going on, that it's like a carnival ride for the visual senses!
Best new sci-fi in many years - 5 stars
    Eureka DVD Review
You can't go wrong on this series. It is truly excellent. It has been a long time since a new Sci-fi as fantastic as this one and one which has not been dumbed down for a change. This is a technology buffs dream come true. Plus it is a clean, wholesome program for the entire family. It never fails to engage your attention and teach you something new using technologies so advanced, it is new to all of us. Every episode has been wonderful. The interaction between the cast members has been magic. Congrats to the person who selected the cast.

It was a stroke of genius to start their new series in July each year. Eureka was the only game in town as far as new TV programs at that time of year. Seems none of the other Cable channels have caught onto the fact that we also watch TV in the summer.

We are happy to see Henry back to normal. The writers had almost ruined his character between the dark moody scripts and changing hairdo's. Henry is one of their main characters whether they like it or not. His many talents make him a multifaceted character which never fails to surprise us.

Oddly, I thought I never liked the character of Stark until they killed him off last Tuesday in a real tear-jerker ending. Now the show seems empty without his egocentric abilities. A key necessity in such a lab of high tech covert projects. I liked it better with him in it. They need to bring him back... perhaps by finding out that he was thrown into the future rather than deleted.

I know shows will get rid of expensive actors and trade them for a couple lesser actors.... but the trade-off of Stark for Thorne and the new sister of the Sheriff are not even close to the same caliper as Stark and neither adds anything to the series. The new additions are just excess baggage. It would be no loss if they both disappeared.

As far as Thorne's trimming of the employees role... The gov't has never cared about how much tax money they waste..and they don't usually lay off their black project scientists... so her coming in and acting like it is a private corporation needing to be slimmed down makes no sense.

Not to mention why the Sheriff's sister would be allowed to be in a closed town filled with black project employees and scientists who use classified products out in the open.

This looks like an early attempt to cut costs. In the corporate world, you're allowed to show a loss on your taxes for 3 years. After that, they lose the tax breaks so most new companies will start trimming employees between year 2&3 and will usually pick their highest salaried employees to cut and try to replace them with someone cheaper... unfortunately, they usually end up with someone who can't do the job... which is why they are cheaper to hire.

They need to let the viewers decide on major cast and plot changes... not some pitbull exec in the network sales dept... like the ones who canceled Star Trek and Outer Limits.

Let's hope some idiot in charge doesn't cancel or ruin the spirit of Eureka like they have managed to do in the past to every decent show. Especially those programs which are over the heads of those cable network goons. They need to remember that most viewers are not on Nielson and they are not getting accurate ratings from them. They should also be careful about allowing a sponsor to ruin the program with too much interference... and Degree is coming close to that point in just a few episodes this year

But so far, Eureka is still a one-of-a-kind program which never fails to entertain and bring delight to the viewers.
