I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings

    From Amazon.com:
Radiohead's third album got compared to Pink Floyd a lot when it came out, and its slow drama and conceptual sweep certainly put it in that category. OK Computer, though, is a complicated and difficult record: an album about the way machines dehumanize people that's almost entirely un-electronic; an album by a British "new wave of new wave" band that rejects speed and hooks in favor of languorous texture and morose details; a sad and humanist record whose central moment is Thom Yorke crooning "We hope that you choke." Sluggish, understated, and hard to get a grip on, OK Computer takes a few listens to appreciate, but its entirety means more than any one song. --Douglas Wolk

this is for the vinyl reissues - 4 stars
    OK Computer Review
I just bought this reissues LP this weekend! and having seen only one review of the vinyl reprint i thought i would add my 2 cents. 1st the packaging is great these LP make CDs look boring, nice gate fold and you can see all the art work that is so small it the cd booklet and now it is huge and awesome. 2ed the sound That is my we are buying all this s@#t again right! Sounds great the highs are higher and the lowers are lower just like my life j/k! 3ed it is just a cool thing the have and revisit. I think the whole ritual of putting the record on sitting down and listening to the recording instead of driving or washing dishes or working out or what ever. So in summation i would give the music 5 stars the vinyl 4 stars so there you have it!

ps this also applies to the bends

one of my favorite albums of all time - 5 stars
    OK Computer Review
I can't speak for everyone, but I personally love this album, everything about it is great, from the intense "Airbag" right to the angst of "Let down", to the epic filled "Paranoid Android", the simple yet depressing "No suprises" and the pink floydesque "Lucky" there is not a bad track here except maybe the "fitter happier" which I don't think really fits the album at all.

Aside from that, this album is beautiful, even though its very bleak in terms of lyrics, and the use of many minor chords does not set up for a easy listening album. It is beautiful in its textured and layered recordings, and Thom Yorkes voice croons like an angel with whom lost it's wings. I simply love this album, I listened to it with an open mind thinking it would be too experimental or weird. That was not the case however, and I have listened to this album at least 50 times throughout.

I highly agree that you take a listen to this album before making your choice in terms of buying it.

Pet Sounds and OK Computer Capitol vinyl reissues - 5 stars
    OK Computer Review
A caveat - the 5 stars are for the music. 4 for pressing!

Re: Pet Sounds and OK Computer Capitol vinyl reissues:

These are better than the abysmal (imo based on disraeli gears and tea for the tillerman) "back to black" reissues.

both the capitol reissue of ok computer and of pet sounds that i bought today are dead quiet and neither suffer from obvious digitalis. they do not sound as if they were recorded using the cd as the source, which many people have felt about the b to b pressings.

the lead vocal on pet sounds is a tiny bit on the bright side (though it may simply be more revealing of whats there - and my system is extremely revealing and cuts no slack in this direction), but it's not brittle like tea for the tillerman is in places in the b to b series. comparing this mono pet sounds to the generally well thought of 1999 mono cap reissue i am hearing slightly better defined detail and slightly increased bass. the more distinct detail may proove to be an improvement or a detrement in the long run. i have to get used to it before i'll be sure which i prefer; but i sure as heck prefer the silence of this vinyl to every pressing i've ever owned of pet sounds. its just great to hear no distracting noises during the oh so many sublime moments that Brian Wilson created for us!

this pressing of ok computer is more dynamic than my uk parlaphone which til now has been my preferred pressing. i have never been wowed by any vinyl or cd of ok c. it aint a sonic pleasure like the radio head lps that have come after it. this does not reverse that assessment of its sound quality (the recording quality of ok c is what it is), but this does seem to be an improvement, at least a bit.

certainly compared to the huge bummer that the back to black series offers, and especially as many of us have been afraid that it foretold that this was all the big record companies were prepared to offer, this comes as a positive tasting of the capitol reissue waters.

so, at first listen i'd say these will at minimum fill the void for those not having quiet (or any) copies of these titles and perhaps bring some small improvements for those lacking pristine wlp's or first pressings. of course the rest of this series may be all over the place by comparison. this is a very hopeful 1st sampling though.

thom must be my brother - 5 stars
    OK Computer Review
I love this record, its the most inspired recording of the nineties from beginning to end. Even the lyrics are
really on, at times its like Thom Yorke is my long lost brother the way his mind works and the things that he's thinking about. "Exit Music" is my favorite Radiohead song because of how intense it is. A lot of this record seems to be driven by spite and bitterness but that's all good - better get that energy out in the studio then with a machine gun in a school yard. And the best way to kill someone is to shame them into killing themselves anyway right? Radiohead's smartest move has been to not even attempt to top this record and instead go and make more atmospheric, moody music; this is the peak and would be for anybody.

    A masterpiece - 5 stars

I loved this CD so much I bought it for my cousin for his birthday so he could listen to this great album. All the songs are great, even the song "the Tourist," which of all of them is my least favorite (But I still like it.) This is my second favorite Radiohead album, with "the Bends" being my first favorite. If you like this one check out the b sides from it on the CD "Airbag How Am I Driving?" Radiohead finally got the Grammy they deserved for their fine work.Airbag/How Am I Driving? [EP] [Limited Edition]
