Product Description:
Phil Vassar has gained much attention through his knack for hit songwriting and his compelling and highly entertaining skills on the piano. The Chicago Tribune writes, "Phil Vassar has the talent of a legend." He has sold millions of records both on his own and for other artists such as Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, and Colin Raye with his chart topping penmanship. His first Universal Records South release is co-produced by Vassar with Universal Records South President and noted producer, Mark Wright (Gretchen Wilson, Brooks & Dunn, Lee Ann Womack). Vassar's heart-swelling embrace of life's richest blessings is also apparent, especially on lead single "Love Is A Beautiful Thing." At the same time, his writing has grown more introspective and personal, as "This Is My Life" and the title track can attest. The new album may show Vassar's serious side, but he hasn't forgotten how to have fun. "My Chevrolet," "Why Don't Ya" and "Baby Rocks" rank among his best toe-tappers and are already getting warm receptions at his heralded live shows. Even on the love songs, Vassar shows his uncommon charm, wit and playfulness, be it "Around Here Somewhere" or "It's Only Love." And he's not shy about taking strong emotions head on with "I Would" or on the stunningly raw "Let Me Love You Tonight." His songwriting is fueled by his hard-charging touring schedule. "People ask me why I still do so many shows, but you work your whole life just to get to the point where people want you to come play," he says.

Prayer of a Common Man Review
Short and to the point. If you appreciate well written, from the heart lyrics, catchy melodies, good harmonies, and a man with a good vocal range and a strong voice with the perfect knack of filling his song with just the right amount of emotion, just a hint of tears stinging his eyes, or the joy and freedom of youth ready to bust loose and run....
A man with that perfect knack because he's lived and felt every one of those emotions he so cleverly wrote into lyrics....If you like to feel your music...Then buy this CD. It's worth every penny.

Prayer of a Common Man Review

I like Phil Vassar, I really do. His first two albums I loved. There after, he hit a lul with me. This last one, while still not as good as his original albums is a definite step in the right direction. It's easy to like, many good melodies, and has restored my faith in him. He definitely is a talent and I wish that he'd show country music fans just how musically talented he is while also being able to make music the masses can enjoy.

Prayer of a Common Man Review
I have been a long-time "phan" but was disappointed with Phil's most recent offering, "Prayer of a Common Man." Except for a couple of tracks, most of the songs seemed to have a thread of anger or regret running through them (which probably isn't unexpected, since Phil went through a divorce during the writing of this album). I just don't find myself reaching for this CD nearly as often as I do for his prior albums, especially "Shaken, Not Stirred." For a serious phan, you will want to add this to your collection, but I am waiting for the next album in hopes that Phil returns to the more optimistic, catchy sounds of his past.

Common Man's Prayers are answered! -

Prayer of a Common Man Review
This common man's prayer was answered when Phil Vassar released another CD! Vassar isn't a household name (yet), but is an incredibly talented singer/song writer who has written songs for Chesney, McGraw, McBride, and many other A-list country stars. The tracks on this CD exemplify Phil's ability to take snippets from his life and turn them into runaway smash hit songs. Whenever I hear a Vassar song, I listen while the song plays out like a video in my head. This is a great work that belongs in your music collection
