Product Description:
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC˛. The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC˛ is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts. The first single from E=MC˛ is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC˛ will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MC˛ is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

I love ya Mariah. But,Its time grow up !! Your 38 not 21 !! Ive been a fan since her first cd.Also a fan club member since 1994. But, enough with 10 differant people trying to produce. Geez, is this a hip hop tribute to Mariah with new songs ? Im still waiting for the day that Mariah will just makes a cd with just her singing. And no guest rappers !! At least we have the good ole days of Mariah. This is the first time i did'nt buy it the day it came out. I finally bought it about a week after. Played it twice. Now its just collecting dust. Maybe someday Mariah will listen to her Real Fans !! And not these Rappers and producers who just stop by and give there 2 cents worth. And just stamp there name as credit on her cd.

I will easily go out on a limb and say this has got to be one of her best CD's, next to Music Box. E=MC2 keeps up with the same formula that made `Emancipation' such a smash success. I have to say; if it aint broke, why fix it. Mariah has struck gold again on her latest effort. It has all the ingredients that we all love in a great Mariah CD: soul, power, pop, R&B, hip hop and her powerful ballads. This release does not disappoint in any way. I, personally, like this CD better than `Emancipation'. I felt her last CD had a few too many filler songs where E=MC2 has none of that.
The CD opens up with "Migrate" with T-Pain. A song can never go wrong having T-Pain involved in it. It has a great beat, catchy hook and it is very melodic. It keeps up with the up-tempo song on a number of songs but, then she takes it to her balladeer roots on "I Stay In Love". This song is amazing. It screams pure Mariah through and through. I feel that every song on here is top notch and there are none that I skip over. I can picture almost all these songs being HUGE hits on radio. She sticks with the melodic, radio friendly sound.
Run out and get this CD now if you do not already have it. It is sure to be played, on the radio, for at least the next year and is sure to win numerous awards along the way as well.

I have been a fan of Mariah Carey every since her debut album emerged in June of 1990. I have followed every album since then and I know what a remarkable singer and talented song writer she is. What bothers me is that I've seen her go from a beautiful classy singer to someone who still sings well but belts out tunes that are so beneath her.
This latest CD E=MC2 has a very intellectual title, nice cover and a few songs that takes me back to 90's Mariah. There are some songs on there with lyrics that are just ridiculous and I can't believe she recorded it! I love the song Bye Bye however if you listen to some of the words, it's obvious she's forgotten how to use the proper English. Forgive me but using "Ghetto Slang" in such an inspirational song takes away from it (ex. This is for my peoples who just lost somebody???). You can be down with hip hop and use the proper English! That's the main issue I have with her material lately.
Some of my favorite songs on this CD are:
I wish you Well: very beautiful and inspirational, even quotes passages from the Bible.
For the Record: a very nice ballad with no rappers yelling through it.
I Stay in Love: Another beautiful ballad minus the obnoxious rappers.
Bye Bye: Has a beautiful message and she sings it well (minus some of her word choice).
Loving you Long time: Very Catchy tune. It samples one of my all time favorite songs; Stay with Me by Debarge. Even better, it samples a section that hasn't been used!! About time! Others that have sampled it in the past used the same hook.
Migrate: The music is hype and fun to dance to but the lyrics....not for a mature 38 year old woman! As someone said in their review, leave the kid's stuff to the kids!! I like T-Pain because he has brought back the ZAPP Roger Troutman sound and he does it very well on this song.
Touch my Body: Cute for a 20 year old. The music is catchy but once again those lyrics!! I think someone needs to remind Ms. M that she is 38.
The other songs haven't really done much for me, I'm still trying to warm up to them.
Overall it's an okay CD. If you love the 90's Mariah as I do, you may be disappointed. I know what she is capable of bringing to the table and it seems as if lately she is selling herself short however I am a devoted fan and I will continue to buy her music. I know that no matter what she puts out, she will always deliver at least two good powerhouse ballads and that's enough to keep me a fan.
I love her and I think she is an incredible vocalist.

First, let me say I'm a contemporary of Mariah, male in my mid-thirties, and I have to say that I'm very proud of her. Lots of judgmental people on this review chain, from people who think that it's their job to compare this album to Abbey Road, to those who just like to relax and smile. I'm a relax and smile type. You're listening to songs written and performed by a 30-something who has gone through a hell of a lot, and whose world view is so radically different than us mere mortals, that you have to stand back and see her for who she is. In Touch My Body, she's a woman who wants to be loved...not in the "find a highschool sweetheart and lets get married at the local chapel" kind of love, but in the "I'm an untouchable Rapunzel diva who lives in a gate multimillion dollar mansion and who has every aspect of my life controlled and scripted, and I just want you to sneak in and love me, in private." Adult love, make your old Aunt Mae blush love. But I bet somewhere under that coiffed hair, your old Aunt Mae is getting jazzed by the idea. Sorry but cute as she is, fifteen year old Miley Cyrus can't make these songs like these. She can't make songs like these because she hasn't been there, done that. In songs like Migrate, Mariah's showing us she can be as cool and fresh as any of them. You don't have to be 20-something to bring down the house. People who lament that this album isn't all pure and innocent and 1990's Mariah need to take a step back and see that this isn't 1990's Mariah singing. I actually felt uncomfortable a bit listening to her slam Mottola...it's such a personal song, and she tells him like it is. I bet when Tommy listened to it for the first time, those memories when he abused her flashed into his mind. Then what flashed in his mind is that she's not his anymore, he could have had her but he ruined it. The next thing that flashed in his mind was that millions of people were also listening and thinking the same thing. Take that, pal. That's raw right there, and it's good stuff. Listen to it and find out more about who she is and what she's been through. I popped the song "Lovin You Long Time" on and I've had it on repeat for the last few hours. It's a great song. No, it's not profound. It's not Shakespeare, but who sits and read Shakespeare all day? I'm going to pop the top on my convertible, throw in this disc, and remember the Summer of 2008 a little more because of these songs. The fact that Mariah can do that for me and for millions of people, can push over 400,000 copies of a disc in its first week almost two decades into a career, can take on Elvis and the Beatles for the most #1 hits, can come back from being the subject of supermarket tabloid fodder that would break my heart if it were me on the cover getting brutally slammed day after day...is such a cool, cool thing.

I can't say I enjoy most of the record. A lot of the songs sound the same, especially toward the middle. There are some great high points, though. "Migrate" will sound great in the clubs, as will "Side Effects." And "For the Record" has to be the greatest MC ballad in YEARS. I pray it will be released as a single. I'm sure it'll become another #1 single for her!
