BAND RETURNS WITH BRAND NEW STUDIO ALBUM
    "SONGS FROM THE SPARKLE LOUNGE"
SET FOR RELEASE ON APRIL 29

Album Release Kicks Off With U.S. Spring Concert Tour!

Album Contains 11 NEW Original Songs Including the Single
    "Nine Lives" Featuring Tim McGraw

Def Leppard, Great Britain's premiere arena rock band, is back with a bang--kicking off 2008 with the release of their 14th studio album and a U.S. arena concert tour scheduled for this spring. Entitled Songs From The Sparkle Lounge (Bludgeon Riffola/Island/UMe), the album contains 11 new songs including the highly-anticipated single "Nine Lives" featuring a groundbreaking collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw. Songs From The Sparkle Lounge is Def Leppard's first album of brand new material since 2002's X and begins yet another remarkable new chapter in the band's 30-year recording career.

Recorded last year during month-long stints at lead singer Joe Elliott's Dublin studio, the album's title refers to a backstage area called "The Sparkle Lounge" on Def Leppard's 2006 tour where the band would go to write songs. Tracks from the album have been described by the group as written in the style of Hysteria, with the production of High 'n' Dry.

"The whole record's got a great '70s feel," said lead singer Joe Elliott. "By our standards, it's a very different album as we've been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers. On the album there are classic Def Leppard songs and then there's also tracks that are very new-wave influenced while others sound like middle-to-late '70s AC/DC. There will definitely be some moments on it where anybody that's familiar with our music will go, 'Whoa! I wasn't expecting that!'"

The foundation for the album's collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw was layed at Def Leppard's 2006 Hollywood Bowl show where McGraw joined the band on stage for an encore performance of "Pour Some Sugar on Me." The artists stayed in touch following the performance, and when the band started writing the song "Nine Lives" they immediately thought of reaching out to McGraw to sing on it. Guitarist Phil Collen flew to Nashville to play it for McGraw who loved it and recorded the song in Nashville shortly after. Other standout tracks on the album include "Go," reminiscent of the band's classic track "Rocket" in its power and aggressive tribal beat; "Love," an emotive and moving epic song; and the anthemic "Tomorrow," a song written by guitarist Collen about the death of his father.

With more than 65 million albums sold worldwide and two prestigious Diamond Awards to their credit, Def Leppard--Joe Elliott (vocals), Vivian Campbell (guitar), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick "Sav" Savage (bass) and Rick Allen (drums)--continues to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career, the band has produced a series of classic groundbreaking albums that set the sound for generations of music fans and artists. The group's spectacular live shows, filled with powerful melodic rock anthems, have become synonymous with their name and they are an institution in the touring industry as they continue to sell out arenas worldwide.

Yeah! Lep is Back! - 5 stars
Songs From The Sparkle Lounge Review
I've been a huge fan of Def Leppard since the beginning. I've always felt as though they were our generations Beatles. They are that good! With all the changes they've gone through musically, in my own opinion I've enjoyed the ride. I even liked Slang! That was definitely stepping outside of their comfort zone.
This album is one of their best yet! Joe's voice is still as strong as ever. The guys as a whole sound great. The music is fresh and fun. This album is highly recommended. Relax and have fun with it!

    Rock Album - 4 stars
Songs From The Sparkle Lounge Review
I have been a Def Leppard fan for over twenty years. I have listened to every album many times. Whereas there were things I like about every album, some songs I did not connect with and I am willing to admit it. So even though I am such a huge fan, I will give an unbiased review.

First "Love" is an amazing song, one of their best ballads ever. I do like McGraw's voice in "Nine Lives" and I think it is very cool he is doing a song with Def, but the song was just okay for me. It is not a country song; it is definitely a rock song. It is getting some radio play, so I am glad people like it. The other songs are more rocker type of upbeat songs. Apparently they wanted to go back to the Hysteria or earlier rock sound. I guess some fans complained about their other albums. I do not understand that. It is not the 80s anymore so I have no problem with Def trying new and different sounds. I guess that is the main reason "X" did not sell so well. It was more of a ballad and Pop album, and some fans were upset that it was not rocking. Well, WHO CARES! Def is awesome at writing and playing Pop and ballad music, plus "X" did have two incredible rocking songs in "Scar" and "Torn To Shreds." (yes, I am shamelessly making a plug for "X." Please, everyone who does not have it, go out and get it right now!!)

With the "X" complaints in mind, Def leaned more towards their older sound in this album, which I have no problems with. "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" is a solid album. Rockers who only want rocking from Def should be happy.
Go - Pretty intense rocking song. Not bad.
Nine Lives - Tim McGraw song. Okay song.
C'mon Cmon - Pretty enjoyable pop rock sound and beat.
Love - The Lone Ballad; incredible song.
Tomorrow - Not a heavy rocker, but pretty good song.
Cruise Control - Good tune; good serious sound. Great riffs.
Hallucinate - Solid song. Good beat, good singing, good riffs.
Only The Good Die Young - Started great, rest pretty good too. Slower then rest.
Bad Actress - Fast paced rock song. My least favorite song on the album.
Come Undone - I like this song. Up tempo at times and some slower pace.
Gotta Let It Go - One of my favorites, slower ballad start, but rocks out some.

This is totally throwback Lep! The songs definitely take you back to their high quality output from High N Dry through Hysteria. Plus, this album is chock full of harmonies and melodies, without comprising the rock. For those who have been hoping for the Sheffield guys (and Viv) to return to their most popular sound, this is the record where they've finally done it! Now the trick is to see if radio and video will give this album the proper support.
    Great Comeback - 5 stars
Songs From The Sparkle Lounge Review
I'm having trouble understanding how Def Leppard fans don't like this album. This album is fantastic! All the songs are great. I can listen to it in the car, and never get bored of it. These songs are going to be fantastic live. It's the same producer who produced 2002's "X". Yeah, Robert "Mutt" Lange wasn't around, but what difference does it make for the production? Just be happy that Rock N' Roll is alive in 2008. This album gives me a kick of happyness.
Best work since Hysteria -- awesome rock CD! - 5 stars
Songs From The Sparkle Lounge Review
Great rock record from Def Leppard. Many radio-friendly tunes including Nine Lives (w/Tim McGraw), Only The Good Die Young, Tomorrow, C'mon C'mon, Love (the only ballad on the CD and it has a Queen/Zeppelin feel), and Come Undone. The songs Go and Bad Actress are good hard-driving songs but probably a bit hard for mainstream radio. All in all, I've listened to this CD for about a week solid and really enjoy 9 of the 11 tracks. The most enjoyable rock record for me since Daughtry's debut release. You can just press play and let it go. Radio may not help make these guys huge again like they were in the 80s but it's nice to hear some fresh, solid, original music from them.
