Simon Jackson is an awkward 15-year-old who lives on a planet light years away from the "in" crowd - until a life changing moment. Attacked in the British Colombia wilderness, Simon is rescued by a rare white Kermode bear. When he learns these magnificent creatures are endangered, that only 400 are in existence in a small area of northern BC, Simon turns from shy, stuttering daydreamer to political activist. Mustering his courage, he takes on the powerful forest industry and the provincial government, eventually rallying everyone from prince William to the Backstreet Boys. Simon ultimately secures the protection of 2500 square miles of Princess Royal Island - one of the largest land protection battles ever won - and is named one of "'Time Magazine's Heroes For The Planet." Simon's victory resulted in the largest land protection measure in North American history. The "Spirit Bear Youth Coalition" is the world's largest environmental network of young people with over five million members in 60 countries. With every successive government, Simon and the Youth Coalition continue to work toward protecting the bear's last intact habitat.

this movie is ok, but if you think this is a wildlife movie you would be wrong. most of the movie is filmed in a city and a courtroom. but for what i paid for it i can't complain too much.

I purchased this movie as a fan of Graham Greene but ended up really enjoying both the movie and the acting. No, it will not win any awards but is definitely worth seeing especially if you can watch it with your children. Perhaps it may even inspire them for the future.

A Wonerful, Suprising Movie That Everyone Needs To See -

Spirit Bear Review

I purchased this movie because I am a Graham Greene fan, and the movie kept showing up on recommended lists as a Native American movie. This is not a Native American movie, this is a movie about saving our environment and the fortitude of a young man named Simon Jackson.
When I watched the movie, I was totally moved by its presentation and portrayals. It reminded me of years gone by, when environmentalists picked environmental causes, not political causes; when a hand few of determined people could really bring about something great. And it is great family entertainment, that is educational as well. Not recommended for people worried about money or jobs; Marxists need not watch.
