    Description
    Product Description:
Bring gaming to life in your living room with the Xbox Video Game System, the essential center-piece to any home entertainment set up. Beneath the cool, tough exterior is a system capable of powering the very best single and multiplayer gaming experiences available today.Designed to push gaming to the absolute limit, the Xbox console delivers incredible graphics and cinematic sound that will drop you and your friends deep into the heart of the action. The immense range of top-class games and online gaming with Xbox Live mean there will never be another dull moment.

    From Amazon.com Review:
Take the power and flexibility of a dedicated computer gaming system and combine it with the easy-to-use, instant-on format of a high-end console system and what do you get? Well, if you also add in DVD playback ability and broadband Internet connectivity, you get Xbox.

The advanced components inside Xbox make it the undisputed powerhouse among current game consoles. A 733 MHz Intel main processor and 233 MHz graphics processor from industry leader nVidia deliver photorealistic graphics in real time. A cavernous hard drive stores saved games and characters, making flimsy memory sticks obsolete. The built-in Ethernet port enables super-fast multiplayer online gaming over a broadband Internet connection. Four game controller ports allow you and three of your buddies to play at the same time, or you can use them for other peripherals such as gamepads, light guns, and who knows what else?

But Xbox has more going for it than fancy innards. The Xbox's Windows-based operating system is a breeze to program on, earning it grateful accolades from Electronic Arts, Infogrames, THQ, and other game producers. The less time developers spend struggling with the operating system means the more time they spend tweaking gameplay, which ultimately results in better games. And games are what it's all about.

Well, games and the fun of owning a green-glowing game console that looks like it came from Darth Vader's living room.--Mike Fehlauer

The Xbox Video Game System with Controller S includes the Xbox console, the popular "S" style Microsoft controller, and all necessary cables. A DVD kit (sold separately) is required to access DVD playback ability.

    Disappointed - 1 stars
    Xbox Core Console USM Review
As someone who loves video games, the Xbox coming out seemed to be the greatest thing ever. Notice the past tense...However, once the Xbox came, the excitement was quickly replaced by frustration.

I was very careful with this console. I didn't shake it or turn it or drop it. I put it in one place where no damage could occur.

My Xbox broke within a year. When I say it broke I mean the Xbox would turn on and a game would start, but it would always freeze after a certain amount of time. At first, I thought it was that the games were scratched. Some were, while others were not. I replaced two or three games that had not been scratched with brand new games, all from different stores and completely scratch free, to see, and these also froze.

I had never gotten any warranty, and if I had, it would have been past the time limit, so I got a new Xbox. One year later, this new console did the same exact thing.

It was just one thing after another. If the games were working, then the controllers weren't. The controllers continually had to be replaced. I think this is just absolutely ridiculous. Good money went in to this dumb thing, and I think now that it was made to break.

I sound like I hated everything about it. I didn't. The graphics were excellent, and the games, while they worked, were great. I am incredibly disappointed with the poor quality that went in to making this system.

And to show that it truly is ridiculous to have to deal with something like this here's an example.
I have had a Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and an N64 since they all came out. In comparison to the Xbox, and in all the years I've had them, none have ever frozen during game play, I have never had to replace controllers, and all of the games still work. And this is after years of tossing them around (unlike the Xbox, which I hardly even moved...), leaving them in the heat, and using them until I was afraid they'd break.

The most disappointing thing of all was I was so excited about getting this new system with the awesome graphics, that I thought by being careful with it, it would never break. I wouldn't say I was stupid to think this. I shouldn't even have to ask for a system that is both reliable and well made.

And to the guys who made the Xbox: thanks a lot. You've made my gaming experience so horrible, I will never play it again.
From one bitter, overly frustrated customer, over and out.

It's been one month since I bought this item but I haven't received it yet. I placed a claim so, I'm waiting for the answer now.

Okay, I know that the xbox is ancient and the 360 is much better but I don't play enough video games to justify getting a 360. I have had this since 2003 and it still runs perfectly. I haven't treated it very well either. The only thing that I have found wrong with it was the controller which was replaced in current times (2008) for only $25. My xbox has been reliable and fun to play and I expect at least another few years out of it.

I ordered this product 3 weeks before my boyfriend's birthday. The product never came and I was told I needed to wait longer because it may be in the mail. It never came, I had no present, and I had to wait one month before I got a refund.
This was a great system - 5 stars

This was a great system but i sold it and got xbox360 and being that the xbox360 can play xbox games it would'nt make sense to keep the xbox but this was a fun great system.
