5 stars Even better than the first!, January 6, 2009
The whole premise of this game is that the original Katamri game was so wonderful, there just HAD to be a second one. Seriously. They flat out admit that.

For those that have never played the first game, it's not important. The basic idea, as lame as it sounds, is that you have a ball that you roll around. As you roll over stuff, it sticks to your ball until your ball gets bigger and bigger. It's amazingly addictive though as you get big enough to roll people into your ball (the Katamari)..eventually getting to the size to roll up buildings and entire cities.

Interestingly enough, the sequel is not just more of the same like so many game developers tend to do. "Oh! Let's just rehash all the same ideas with an extended story and call it a sequel!" Nope. Not this one.

The humor has been scaled up quite a bit, the graphics seem to been improved upon, the gameplay itself runs more smoothly than the original..things like climbing stairs and bouncing off bigger objects has been made MUCH easier. There are more challenges and goals and places to roll the Katamari around...you can now go under water and even take it for a spin around the solar system from time to time.

Anyone who enjoyed the first one will LOVE this game. Anyone who's never played it at all should STRONGLY consider buying this and giving it a try.

5 stars Weird, unique, and 100% fun for everyone, December 28, 2008
This game provides fun for just about anyone. I bought this game for my niece and nephew and they enjoy every minute of it. I play it myself and find it hard to put down. Another game in my still-expanding Playstation 2 collection.
5 stars She Loves Katamari, October 15, 2008

5 stars This is almost a hobby, not a video game ..., May 20, 2008
As in the previous game, the King of All Cosmos has destroyed the stars in the sky, and it is up to the Prince to go to Earth and roll up objects into a "katamari" -- a kind of sticky ball that grows as you attach things to it -- so that new stars can be built.

Unlike its predecessor, We Love Katamari has relatively few "standard" stages. Instead, most of the stages give you some kind of specific challenge -- rolling with a burning katamari without letting its fire go out, rolling entirely underwater, getting as large as you can with a finite number of objects, and so forth.

As a result it is rather harder.

Nevertheless, if you've played and enjoyed the first game and want more challenges, this is the way to go. Fun new stages (and way more of them), a much larger World stage, and lots of weird and freaky challenges to try.
